We offer a variety of engagement models.

2.1 Engagement Models

Below are the ways we typically engage clients. While these are the most common methods, we also offer more customized solutions for complex projects and engagements. Contact us to learn how we can best work together.

2.2 Our Process

Hiding behind a “secret sauce” is for cowards. We proudly publish our processes for everyone to see. We offer two engagement options to best suit your project.

Design + Build Process

We get it. Not every company is ready for a fully agile approach. If your product launch requires a relatively fixed scope or budget, then we have our 9-stage process to support it. Feel free to download our full client guide. It outlines details at every stage and will prepare you for working with PRPL on your next Design + Build project.

Agile / Monthly Process

Rather than a fully fixed process of Design + Build, our Agile / Monthly Process affords the flexibility and freedom to pivot product development efforts as new priorities emerge. This approach ensures speed-to-market, but also stresses the importance of an “MVP” approach to product design with the flexibility to test, learn, iterate, and improve products in an ongoing fashion.

01

Kickoff

Assigning the team. Reviewing business requirements and high-level timeline. Establishing project points of contact, process, and getting to know the client / team.

02

Discovery

Gathering and finalizing requirements and goals for the project. Discussing project timeline and key milestones. Learning and understanding the problems to be solved.

03

Research & Strategy

Defining and closing gaps in knowledge through investigation and research of behaviors, needs, and motivations. Understanding competitive landscapes, markets, and industries to inform an effective project strategy.

04

Planning & Content

Marrying the results of the Discovery and Research stages into a cohesive project plan. Refining the functional requirements for the Design and Development stages.

05

Designs & Assets

Applying the learnings from Discovery, Research, and Planning into a high-fidelity visual representation of the end product.

06

Development

Implementing the functionality decided upon in the Discovery, Research, Planning and Design stages. Internal quality testing and verification of feature completion.

07

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Reviewing the functionality of the product with the customer against the established acceptance criteria in a testing environment. Reporting and resolution on any discrepancies.

08

Launch

Accepting the product as final and complete according to specifications, and ready for release to its intended audience.

09

90-Day Warranty & Support

Ongoing support of the product after Launch. This includes defect resolution and security / vulnerability updates.

Product Roadmap

At the beginning of our Agile / Monthly engagement, our team will conduct a Product Roadmap Workshop with you and your product stakeholders. The result of this workshop will be your Product Roadmap.

Your Product Roadmap will be an outline that connects your short-term and long-term business goals to identified strategies, requirements, and necessary technology solutions.

This collaborative process will establish consensus about your product’s needs, requirements, and priorities. It will also serve as a tool to coordinate resources, forecast budgets, determine ongoing production schedules, and plan for major feature releases.

Production Sprints

Once your Product Roadmap is established, we begin product development efforts as iterative Production Sprints. This process ensures progress is made in an ongoing fashion.

Production Sprints are time-based and usually divided into 2-to-3 weeks cycles, or even full monthly cycles for less complex support retainers.

Each Production Sprint follows a very simple process of:
Plan › Design › Build › Test › Merge.

Once completed features are fully tested, vetted, and approved, we establish release schedules to push your features to production environments for the world to use.

Backlog Management

Any feature or component that is not under active production will be part of your Product Backlog.

It’s very easy for important features to fall by the wayside to more time-sensitive and urgent needs. Successful product development requires aggressive prioritization. A critical element to this process is proper Backlog Management.

Your Product Manager will proactively manage your Product Backlog to ensure that healthy progress is made against your original Product Roadmap without unnecessary diversions. We will constantly work with you to understand priorities, risks, and long-term strategic initiatives. Strong Backlog Management ensures your Product Roadmap stays on track.
